MISSIONS

THE    GREAT   COMMISSION

Friendship continues to strive to be an ACTS 1: 8 church, following the Great Commission  to “…go into ALL the world, preaching the gospel…”

Presently, various members of our congregation are involved in many facets of mission work.

OUR JERUSALEM:    Friendship leads outreach in several neighborhoods in our community, hosting Block Parties in the summer months; providing Bus Ministry for children, youth, and adults from April through October; leading and carrying out one of the larger Vacation Bible Schools in our area each August; participating in on-going visitations to Ashlan Village Senior Care and in various neighborhoods; sponsoring and carrying out Release Time Ministry for students from D. R. Hill Middle School; and more.  Many work to provide Christmas through District 5 Ministries’ ANGEL TREE program each year.

OUR  SAMARIA: Various members of our congregation have been apart of short-term mission trips to areas in Southern Mississippi and Louisiana that were damaged severely by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and years following.  Others have been apart of Summer mission trips to the North Delta of Mississippi (on of the 10 poorest regions of our country).  Others have assisted in other such ventures over the years.

THE UTTERMOST PARTS OF THE EARTH:   Other church members are involved in on-going short-term mission trips to Mexico, Nicaragua, and soon to Peru.  We also work year-round to collect and prepare materials for Samaritan’s Purse for “OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD.”  We collect ideas needed for other missionaries in the US and beyond such as old ink and toner cartridges and more.
